From city hall to Lindsey (Main) Gate is 2.6 miles, typically 6 to 10 minutes on a Monday morning. That clock belongs to Randolph. Orders for Lackland, Fort Sam Houston, or Camp Bullis are a different map, even though the housing allowance matches.

A monthly allowance beside an appraisal mean

The smaller table is 2026 Basic Allowance for Housing with dependents for area TX285, SAN ANTONIO, TX, grades E-5, E-6, and O-3. Lackland 78236, Randolph 78150, Fort Sam Houston 78234, and Camp Bullis 78257 all map to TX285, and so does Schertz 78154. The allowance follows the duty-station ZIP, not the house ZIP. A Randolph report and a Lackland report draw the same rate for the same grade. The commute is a separate question.

Google's route is Schertz Parkway, John E Peterson Boulevard, and FM78 west, 2.6 miles. For Monday, October 5, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. Central, the typical range is 6 to 10 minutes, typical to worst. A house away from city hall will not match that origin. The range ends when the car reaches the gate. The ID check is outside it.

The gate those minutes assume

Lindsey (Main) Gate is 24/7. On federal holidays, AETC Resiliency Days, and 502d Air Base Wing Readiness Days, Lindsey stays on normal hours while East Gate, West Gate, South Gate, and the Lindsey Visitor Control Center close. East Gate is inbound only from 6 to 8 a.m. weekdays and outbound from 3 to 5 p.m. West Gate is inbound until 2 p.m. and outbound until 6 p.m. on weekdays. South Gate / Commercial is 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, with two inbound lanes from 6 to 8 a.m. A Schertz plan that uses the published range is a main-gate plan. It still has a gate on the days the side gates shut.

People without a valid CAC, an ID or privilege card, or a locally issued DBIDS pass report to a Visitor Control Center. Lindsey VCC is 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and it closes with the side gates on those days. Criminal background checks are conducted on all individuals requesting access.

Two counties, one district name

Schertz is in Guadalupe County and in Bexar County. Students attend schools where they reside. Comptroller worksheet 094-902 names Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD. Where the city touches more than one county, confirm the district and the campus by address before treating the worksheet as the answer for that house. The Guadalupe appraisal mean has the same limit. It describes the Guadalupe portion. It does not swallow the Bexar side.

Who it suits

Schertz suits a Randolph report that wants the shorter Guadalupe-side drive of the two published means and will check county and campus by address. It is a weak fit when the daily gate is Lackland, Fort Sam Houston, or Camp Bullis. Camp Bullis is more than 27,000 acres northwest of San Antonio, not this Harmon Drive approach. It is a weak fit for anyone who wants one figure that already combines both counties.
