What "JBSA" means on these pages
The installation in these pages is four locations, not a single gate: JBSA-Lackland, JBSA-Randolph, JBSA-Fort Sam Houston, and JBSA-Camp Bullis. Which location is on the orders decides which gate hours matter and which drive is worth measuring. Camp Bullis is more than 27,000 acres in Bexar County, northwest of San Antonio. The town pages are the Randolph cluster. Their mornings are measured to Lindsey (Main) Gate, the 24/7 gate, not to Lackland or Fort Sam Houston.

One allowance, several maps
Lackland ZIP 78236, Randolph ZIP 78150, Fort Sam Houston ZIP 78234, and Camp Bullis ZIP 78257 all fall in military housing area TX285, SAN ANTONIO, TX. So do the four town ZIPs used here. The 2026 rate for a grade and dependency status is the same across that area. BAH still follows the duty-station ZIP. A Cibolo address on a Lackland report is read from the Lackland ZIP, not from 78108.

How to read a figure
The methodology page records the source, the check date, and the limit of each method. Read the printed figures this way:
- A price figure, where one appears, is a mean market value from the Guadalupe Central Appraisal District 2026 certified totals for Category A single-family accounts. It is not a median and not a sale price. For Schertz it is the Guadalupe portion only. The Bexar side of that city is not added in. The as-of date is the ARB Approved Totals of September 29, 2026, Supplement 28.
- A drive time is Google's typical range, typical to worst, for a Monday, October 5, 2026, 7:00 a.m. Central departure from one named public address to Lindsey (Main) Gate. Miles and route are printed with the range. The wait at the gate is outside it.
- A school line names a district only when the city or the Comptroller worksheet names it, and it still asks for an address check. Students attend schools where they reside.
- A BAH rate is the 2026 Department of Defense figure for one pay grade in TX285, with dependents or without. Town pages repeat three with-dependents grades. They stop there.
